Poppy’s blood, I know of not, nor coca leaves have tasted,
Vision lost, life unwired, imaginations wasted
Yet of their plight, despairing night, I understand the pain
For I have touched on Heaven’s scent and perish in the rain

To think I was subtly ensnared draws a vain conclusion
No white horse charging in the night, providing brief illusion
Naught she spoke as promise, nor set a baited lure
She offered only moments, and guaranteed no cure

A moments touch, no petulance, voltage loaded wire
Soft and tender, wholly raw, conveying light and fire
Multiplying happiness, no injury or curse
Sensual delights on honeyed bread which feed the universe

Transpiring in an instant, so what beguiles the hour?
Where demons cringe and angels smile in love’s enduring power
My arms, they are about her, my lips are on her smile
She beckons me with urgent hands, and bids me stay the while

Smokey swirls in olive groves, what can convey the heat?
Of twinkling sun on oceans surf, where earth and heaven meet
On cosmos edge, the precipice lays waiting for the leap
As one we step across the line, within each others keep.
