A blazing burst of blue on white,
amid fog of war she spreads her light,
a looking glass to all that is right:
her spectrum shatters prisms.
Broken city of faded glory,
reluctant backdrop to our story,
oozing about us, spent and hoary:
marking us from afar.

My dream of her was us alone,
fleeing the hordes that jeer and moan,
to a jealous god we won't atone:
I damned straight will not share her.
Like atmosphere, her eager joy,
she purrs at me, I am her toy,
her grasping, greedy, simple boy:
I worship at her altar.

Her crowd of suitors remain unseen,
they circle and strut, and blindly preen,
the truth of her they'll never glean:
she is beyond all conquest.
Hand in hand we soar around,
in any direction we're homeward bound,
never to be lost, since now we've found:
a company such as this.

Catching my eye as mist abates,
we smile as one, the future awaits,
ahead of us, Sanctuary's gates:
a cottage for two on the water.
At last alone, happy and free,
my angel's radiance... just for me,
and in my arms she'll always be,
as together we melt in a kiss.

Strong imagery and very nice description of one's feelings in a relationship of love.
