An Alchemical Odor

In my room, a curious scent,
In your absence an element remains,
A haunting presence, a ghost?
It is lingering, and mingling,

As these sheets fresh upon the bed,
And plump pillows beneath my head,
They are remembering you,
With so aromatic a reminder.

Even now, here in the shower,
Neither water, nor soap will
Wash away this blended bouquet,
Of our essences entwined.

Indiscernible – you or I? Now,
Only our scent, a strange
Evocation of Two become One,
And that perfume is Love.
