An Argument

The man stands above,
Looking down at the world in perfect love.
But this doesn't hide the perfect frown,
It stands on his face as large as his crown.
The hate and hurt that fills this world,
Isn't perfect like planned, all things be told.
Though all have heard truth, billions are lost,
It's completely ignored just a loose tooth.
Turning around and walking away...
Leave it stranded in the ocean, a miniscule cay.
Left to their other gods, fate, luck, and fortune,
How easily it could be done...

Another man appears..."They are not yours anymore,
They worship cars, money, and sex behind closed doors.
They worship the pain they take and more being dealt.
The evils of empathy and sensitivity no longer felt.
Time, flesh, and one's own desires, locked together in politics' great game.
It's really such a shame; many lost here have no name, or even know from whence they came,
Leave them to me, I am their keeper now.
This I promise this I vow.
I vow to hurt their children, torn between parents, or better yet,
I vow to kill their babies before you see their heads.
I'll do it for free, not even a debt.
I vow to corrupt children, give them sex, and drugs
I vow hate for their dads and for their moms no hugs,
I vow to make them nothing; lie, cheat, and steal, freeloaders they'll be.
Oh all the more fun for me.
I vow that men will cheat on their loving wives,
I vow he will hit her and make their children cry,
I vow to corrupt these lovers of money.
This world will be as sweet as honey.
Murders, rapes, sick torture will stay,
No one will be safe, not in any way,"
The evil man paused a gleam in his eyes...
While the man with the crown began to cry.
"They love you not, you myth and legend,
It is at my feet that they bend,"
The blue ball below them began to glow,
A million chanting voices began to grow.
"I pray for my mommy and little brother Tommy...
I pray my daughter will believe in you, oh lord...
Please help my boyfriend Donnie..."
Little flames erupted around,
Nothing could hide the fear the dark man found,
"Help me, oh lord, my children need peace...
Protect me from Satan and the beast...
Remember the hurting children I pray...
Watch over my boy all through the day...
I need your guidance sense of direction...
Please sweet Jesus lend me a piece of perfection..."
The man with the crown stood up like a king,
Louder and louder the voices still sing.
"I cannot, I have made my own promises,
And in their faith they all hold the key...
Never to destroy the world with the sea,
Wherever my name's is spaketh evil will flee.
Where two are gathered there I will be...
Those who believe will heal the sick, cause the blind to see.
To protect them from torment my word says,
To help a mother working three jobs,
Still take care of her baby's sobs.
To help a young man to read,
To pass it on, greater the deed.
To walk away from power and fame,
Save them from eternal flame...
To help a woman find a man, who doesn't hurt her, fits like a puzzle.
Instead of sex he loves to cuddle...
Help him walk away from disbelief,
Turn away from being a thief,
Stop abusing his body,
Teach his little brother to use his potty.
Replace hate and loneliness with inexplicable bliss,
Be the man she thought he wouldn't,
Be the man he thought he couldn't.
To give hope in this down filled world, help all escape the cold."
"They all sinned none are perfect, most are an emotional wreck,
Why help them?" he protested.
"That's easy I've already assessed it."
The dark man was beside himself with rage,
"Tell me then, you old fool, you aren't that wise, that great of a sage."
He opened his arms wide and free, opening for the whole world to see.
"Through it all they believe, in my love, and my son who died, on a tree.
And because it is written you shall not win,
And because it is written so it will be.
Very soon your time comes,
Bound and beaten to hell's darkest slums,
Bound 10000 years never to be free,
Go now Satan you shall not tempt me."

The poem has a very stunted rhythm. It is all over the place. It is that way because you are forcing the rhymes into place. As a result the poem does not flow at all which greatly detracts from the reader's ability to enjoy the poem. You should spend some time reading out loud some poems by well known poets. You may get a better sense of meter and rhythm from doing so. It also might be a good idea to lay off the rhymes for awhile. Rhyming can be a difficult task to accomplish for a new poet. Concentrate on other elements of poetry first.
