A poem I wrote to celebrate the celebrations of Hogmanay at home with family, friends, far too much to drink and fucking fantastic tunes.
Cheers,
S9B

I'm barely a beggar
i'm out on my own
if you give me your pennies
i'll make them go round
we can spend the night dancing
we're up or we're down
i promise you this pet
we're out on the town
this place is all nightlife
and glorious lights
come dusk and then dawn
we're all talking shite

We drink down the dark stuff
like aniseed oil
you'll be hugging the porcelain by morning
and though darkness will take us
and we're screaming out bile
we're spending our money
like whiskey was oil

i'm barely a beggar
but i'm never alone
this crew round me here
will come and will go
but one thing's for sure
though it's but once a year
the promise of music
is what's keeping us near

We'll drink you all out
of your house and your home
the fights are all legendary stories
so raise up your glass
and prepare for half mast
a toast to the host and his glories
