Wretched -
(my muscles aching and tense
my stomach queasy from last night's excess
my psyche caught on a barb-wire fence)
I waited for easy sustenance
The bell rang:
I opened to a raven-haired beauty
with a shapely charm about her,
she put the pizza on the table-
I commented on the fog, which was a little thick-
she said with a charming smile
that it was giving her trouble
With that, she was gone-
but she'd relieved my isolation,
left a reminder of things that had been
and what could be
the expensive extra veggies were scarce-
but I didn't care
