their human aims,
strive for something
just and true,
the wonders shown
to a lucky few,
blessed with progress,
evolution, revolution
may loosen
the hangman's noose,
youth active,
reacting to politics
because it is
the only way
to change
our predicament,
persistence will win
in grand fashion,
distractions abound,
surround decisions,
cloud visions otherwise
pristine, machines invade
the home, stereo, video,
ten-inch remotes,
progress, success,
lent us these things,
renting 'til death,
clutching possessions
close to our chests
until death wrests them
from cold fingers,
and lingers.
