In the moonlight beneath the stars
She sits and waits alone tonight
In her heart she feels the longing
The need to know that someone's there
The tears fall down from her blue eyes
To stain her cheeks, those lips of gold
She waits alone for one to come
For one to heal her broken heart
Her tears go on, as do mine
And my heart bleeds to hear her cry
A tattered soul on tattered wings
My broken angel flies no more
I lay awake, alone at home
And hear her cry within my mind
In the moonlight beneath the stars
She sits and waits alone tonight
Waiting for one who never comes
Who never mends those shattered wings
To let my angel fly again.

Waiting

A beautiful poignant rendering ~ the tragedy of one who waits in vain.

Here's a piece from earlier this year;

A couple's love rent and both in pain.
