Sister and mother
Furious bonfires
Fuelled by anger

When depleted
Provocation ignited rage
To feed the fire

Father humiliated

Anger drawn like blood
Lashed out

Gave mother what she wanted

Little sister curled into a ball
Gritted teeth
Against another sisterly assault

Withheld rage
Anger missed the lodestone

Years later
Unable to mine the boiling lava of fury
She smiled; swallowed feelings

“You never get angry”
He complained as he walked away

“Neither do I cry”
