I can
escape feeling too often
incapable unworthy
somehow less than
the rest despite
my lack of production
while I compose these
lines itching
even now to tear
out the page and throw
them away
I still feel
better for having
expressed even smoke and
whiskey tempered emotional
emptiness
wasted on feeling
sorry
for myself.

A touch of the Bukowski sentiments.

No amount...

of thoughts is ever unworthy or wasted, as long as they can still be shared and instill a strong impression on its readers, which is exactly what this piece accomplishes.

I enjoyed the whole poem, but this really hit home:

"smoke and whiskey tempered emotional emptiness"

You do a wonderful job of expressing that feeling.

I know that feeling.

Splendidly put.
