And ticking clock and dripping tap
Another midnight comes to all
The echo howls the gaping drain
Tortured souls dance in pain
A passing light across the wall
And darkness falls
I know they are yet here
Their gasping whispers I do hear
The ticking clock and howling drain
Another midnight comes to all
His hands are tied their hands are tied
My hands are…! Tied!
Our hands are tied one and all
A tight tug a sharp yank
The chain goes clank
And one and all they do fall
The gasping whispers ticking clock howling drain
Tortured souls dance in pain
Another midnight comes to all
The singing bird and melting dawn
The rested sigh and grateful do fawn
The night has gone
