I saw you smile, just now,
from far across the room.
You laugh at what she says;
my heart skips a beat at the sound.
Do you ever see me?
Is she the love of your life?
Will you ever see me?
Is what you have so right?
I fantasize, as I watch
the two of you together,
what might have happened
if I had met you first?
Tongues in dance, would we have kissed?
Felt the heat of carnal fire?
Would fate allow the chance here missed?
To lose ourselves in pure desire?
Melded as one, crushed by your lips,
your breath ragged and hot on my face.
I smell you, I taste you, I feel you;
your touch is fevered, your eyes ablaze.
Do you have your hidden dreams?
Regret and question things not done?
Is your life all that it seems?
So very sure that she’s the one?
Skin on skin, hot and flushed,
bodies writhe, sweat glistens by moonlight.
Whispers becomes moans, fill the air,
as you fill me with liquid devotion.
Would our ardor burn us?
Consuming sanity and soul?
Would a life emerge from dust?
Phoenix rising, different role?
In another world, we are lovers,
essence mingled like flowers and sun.
Here, my petals decay in shadow, your
passion luminous to a different bloom.
Is there a pocket outside of time?
An Avalon, a private space?
In that world, are you mine?
Making love in silk and lace?
The idea of the two of us together
is a joy almost too intense to bear.
A climax of emotions, a shuddering
pleasure we will never know.
Do we move in tandem there?
Or is it just the same?
Am I made weak by black despair?
My path apart, eclipsed in pain?
Walking away, tears slipping
unbidden from my control,
I wonder if your heart ever cries out
for what your mind doesn’t know is missing?
Very well written, i felt totally the emotions...thank you for sharing...
Sounds like this was written from painful personal experience. I hope you found love elsewhere.
