Holidays are always here
for us to celebrate
but there's one I don't like so much
maybe even hate

Valentine's Day is a time for joy
a time for love
a time to buy dozens of red roses
and many balloons floating up above
for the one you're thinking of

All these hearts all over the place
add to the scariness and dismay of the day
They remind me of my odd
ironic
valentine getting way

I only got them in grade school
when kids gave then to all
their classmates in class
even if they made you trip and fall

Later on
I was being ignored
even by the one I wanted as my valentine
So I got her a big chocolate heart
with the words on it: "BE MINE!"

She took it and used it to knock me on my head
and totally knock me down
I woke up with a very big headache
and a sad little broken hearted frown

I tried to send myself valentines
to make me feel better
but they could never replace
my desire for that one insignificant letter

So
I don't like the holiday at all
never did hardly anything good
I despise Valentine's Day

But
you have a nice one anyway
take your roses and stuff
be on your way
