Apollo

You are my Sunshine
The dawn breaking over
The darkness of night
The first sliver of light that peaks out
After the dark storm clouds float away
You have given my life
A glimmer of light and hope
In the darkness that seemed to
Pervade my life and being
You are the rainbow
The promise of new life
That things can be different
That things can change
I don’t have to stay in my self-imposed
Parameters or the prison bars I installed
For myself
Or in my hard turtle shell
I can come out of myself
And let my light shine
My sunshine if you will
As your sunshine has shined for me
Bringing light and
Hope and Warmth
To every part of my life
Even the parts I strove to keep hidden
Even from myself
Thank you so much
For helping me to own myself
Helping me acknowledge all of me
Not be regretful or ashamed of
Anything I do or say or am
Or feel or want
Helping me accept myself fully as I am
As you do
You are as unforgettable
As the sun
That lights and warms my days
And as
The moon that watches over
My nights
With its beauty
