you say you are a student
is not that always true
there's still a lot I try to learn
lines drawn tween me and you

the marvel of simple mastery
your single word sly smiles
speechless open mouth agape
while I wonder at your whiles

your whys and wheres like vowels
worn open long or round
leaving me to fretter
as a fox whos gone to ground

so why not tell everyone
that this one is your song
i'm not at all sorry I wrote it
only if i got it wrong

look what you've reduced me to
rhyming school boy thankyou letters
still stumbling over my abc and bs
miscast as if I was casting on
to needles half my size
but oh! how wonderful the mystery
and oh! what delight this night
i dance as if I hold you
and that makes all
all right

~~

When you've a wife you've undertaken the most challenging of learning tasks that'll take you a lifetime;

The lines drawn between thee and she are ever changing and all you can do is try not to let her leave you too far behind.
