If I had a sky of diamonds
and a field full of gold
I would scoop them into my pockets
and use my treasure to buy you the sea

As island and sea, we would find ourselves
where solar sand warms our feet, as
crystal sea collides and caresses
high tide pulls you further into me

We sleep beneath the star and cloud
too close beside the fire.
My hair falls long around your face
as a sad smile flickers into view.

But here tonight I stand alone
beneath this diamond sky,
watching over the fields of gold,
my mind wanders to another time.

The life we live together
in the moment before tomorrow,
and somehow, I know for sure-
this moment is as good as forever.

magic carpet

Nothing so wonder as a good fantasy to carry you away from the mundane every day life.

~~

A nicely stylized romantic piece.

I think...

...you, as a new poet here, show enormous talent and promise. There are many very high moments in this poem, and some that do not match those peaks, but this is a second poem in a row where you show great maturity and handling of language. I do wish to welcome you here, and hope that we read much more from you.....also, I sent a message to your inbox answering the question you asked on the thread yesterday. xoxo Tara
