As The Fortune Cookie Crumbles…

walked wet cobblestones
across the railroad line
my head a bit fuzzy
that bottle of bazaar wine,
delivered with the dinner
ordered without a blink
on the floor cross-legged
you asked what I think,
of life, love and fantasy
chop sticks in your hand
wine in paper cups
you asked what is my plan,
the coming fiscal meltdown
our global warming fate
what'll we do when there is
no more food on our plate,
you cracked your fortune cookie
gave cunning grin
I asked what it read
you said it said "go sin",
and that is what we did
right there on the floor
you asked what I'd like
I said I'd like some more,
you said perhaps tomorrow
perhaps some future date
we embraced at the door
it was raining, dark and late,
I walked down to the station
the last train had departed
so I slept here on the bench
elated and downhearted,
