Across the path's decay a spider leaves
a veil on all the gaudy hours gone brown
till next year's sun; the weary year lies grey between.
Its dizzy days dance on like dying leaves
deserting autumn branches: down and down
in flurries to the ground to rot away unseen
until the winter's silent snow achieves
to smooth all out beneath her graceful gown
and there's no telling that each spinning day has been.

Beautiful.

Like Lesse I loved that line, but have read this several times and appreciated it more each time. Transition of fall to winter captured so well in so few words. "to smooth all out beneath her gracfull gown"
