Half-truths and lies,
tangled and twisted
like fall leaves in her long dark hair.

His empty words
muddle through crisp morning air;

she inhales his betrayals
deeply.

The gentle light of dawn
breaks yet again,
her face to the sky
gleams
with tears and dew.

In the renewal of day,

she parts with her love for him,
tangled and twisted
among tall oak trees and weeping willows.
