BAPTISM

Just for a time, please let this pain go away,
From an empty heart I have to embrace.
I cleanse my soul with the tears in my eyes,
Felt this way seems like it has been for days.

That short journey to that far and distant shore,
Culminates in places prayers can begin to fix.
Every footstep I take leads me further from shore,
Taking me deeper into the waters of the River Styx.

Look deep into my hollow eyes and gaze upon death,
His chilling face smiling on my eternal destiny.
That circle of life, a choice I choose to break;
A choice that suffocates me in a watery grave.

I told you when the hammer falls I'll be gone,
And, you insist you never knew me well.
Promises made are promises I intend to keep,
But, you have managed to make my life a living Hell.

That short journey to that far and distant shore,
Is not that far from God's eternal grace.
I've reached a point where pain should not be,
As I await Charon to carry me from this place.

If it were in my power

If it were in my power I would bring you out of that darkness and change your location from "In the shadows of your mind" to the sunshine of my heart.
