Talks of Lilith and Eve. Nothing of Adam. Much hissing about the serpent. Who listens to snakes anyway? I saw five stars and a cherub. Grotesque displays of affection from high school sophomores. Three big red hickies and too much cologne. A stripper stuck invisible. No one knows I'm a dancer until the lights are low and I'm barely there. When I slink low and flick my fan open. I stroke my own cheeks with lithe fingers. One man is on the brink of something I cannot face. Opened his hand to me and asked if I could help. I offered but he preferred traditional medicine. We stood in line: the sweet smelling darkness, a villain, the stars, the marine, the wounded one, and the boy from the hills. I remembered a fisherman with bad hair and a deep tan but he wasn't there. I talked to a young girl about subjective truths. Asked her why she had all that shit in her face.
