I have to laugh – to think of sunshine raining
down on me – Your golden sunshine bathing
my belly and my breasts, or splashing my face
as I laugh out loud,

soaking through my hair and causing it to shine.
So warm, and solid like a rod beating me,
but shattering like a highland waterfall,
bouncing off my skin,

tickling, turning my giggling to belly-laughs
hitting me just at my blessed coming-time,
as I shout your triumph over my body.
Yes, baby mine. Yes!

You know you pour your many waters on me
and I accept them all, each one a blessing –
the peach-nectar when I touch your inner pearl,
your excitement’s flow,

the tide of our gender’s pain with which you daub
a landscape on my body – but most of all
I bask in this bright sunshine and laugh out loud
at my silliness.

Let other people say what they will, to me
the rarest gift you give to this aching land
I call myself is water to a desert,
sunshine to winter!
