The cool soft of
Dark green sheets scent
Redolent of coming home.
Sun across the sofa a-lights
Carpet warms the cat,
Indolence wakes.

Leo yawns blissful
Stretched out paws splay,
Belly trusts, opening
The sound of waves break
The memory, lap, lap, lapping
As the tide comes in.

Children’s screams of delight
Expand my body as ions invade
With seashell scent.
Cool breezes caress,
Fingering their way
Under my muffler.

Leg muscles cramped
Loosen in the pace of walking
Booted feet sink heavy
Into dry grains. As ankle turns
I yearn for the comfort of
Wet secure sand.

Hard rock against boot soul
Digging out stresses
Not-so-arched feet tense as
A lone helicopter swoops
Suspicions in our direction
Flying over rowers below.

Fog lifting brightness
Travels my face.
The bark of dog
Sounds splash,
Splash, splash
After balls and driftwood.

An orb bobs on the surface
Six feet away a snout
Breaks the water,
We laugh eyes following
Strong paws, strong jaws
Pursuing another’s prey.

My hand travels
The hair of your arm,
Our fingers entwine
Hit a hangnail
Skin against skin,
Sharp against dry.

Soft bright eyes
Peak from a pink hoodie,
Hands grip the stroller bar,
A brown nose crinkles
A baby’s smile
Binds our spell.

Where now?

lovely scene

A soft sunny bright day at the beach ~ languidly enjoying all its pleasures.

~~

A pleasant day's outing along the beach though too far from the shore for its surer footing.

Absolute beauty

I'm speechless. Such power, you have, in that poem.

I'm so glad you're back!
