remember
I would sit
on the stairs
right at the bottom
in the dark.

I would see
the light of our hallway
coming
leaking
through the cracks
around the door.

I would just sit
blinking
smoking my cheap tobacco
until not even doing
the dishes
would remove
the stains.

I would come home
after the day was through
we would dance
crazy
until all the crazy was out
dancing
flailing every limb
to jazz
from every speaker
in the house.

Love the poem and even the line breaks work for me. I mention line breaks because I just commented on a poem about its short lines that gave the poem a choppy read. Yours work really well.
