Evening arrives softly for some,
A scattering of light that dances its way into darkness
Like the trail of a shooting star that just catches your eye.
For others it crashes all around,
An untuned ensemble impatient to share the joy,
Unaware the cacophony is not pleasant to all who hear.
I feel the darkness as a presence
That doesn't change the world so much
As it softens the jagged pieces and allows me to touch you.
