Behind the stony look of gruff
Passed down father to son
Eyes of iced true blue piercing
Windows closed to the soul’s depth
Let no one past that cool mask
Laid tenderest love stored up
For years and years and years
Hidden well from world’s view
Slowly seeping out, flowing
Gruff gone. Mask gone.
Piercing turned to peaceful.
