wakingDownalmost 9 years agoWhile direct and sparse, it does not need anything more to make it have the impact it is working at. The brevity works extremely well with the flow and the feel.
The turn and turn again is a mechanic that I greatly enjoy, and try to use when I think I can make it work. You make it work well here; a mirroring that shows that a simple shift in the placement of the words in a sentence can not only change the meaning of the sentence, but the feel, the tone, the thrust, and the flavor.
Well done. I like your poems a lot, they never seem to fail to make me think and to feel and to need and want to re-read them. All key tenets to a good poem, by my metric, and this is a great one in particular. I'm glad I am finally in a position where I can take the time to go back and read through your catalog more fully. I know there are more wonderful works in store for me this morning.
