Beneath the towers
They played with their cars,
beaten up bombs of yesterday,
revving, smoking
and joking among themselves. Skidding
on the road, they ignored her
dune climb as the black
beach bogged her footprints.
Though the eye never wavered
from the green horizon, she walked
to the sea edge and beyond,
beneath the wave towers.
She was no longer alone.
