She moves easy
hair flowing and face perfect
always with a penchant for fitness & fashion
her body forever tanned and toned.

She wears the relaxed confidence
of having handled every misque of fate
accepting my stare as a compliment
her eyes a bottomless chestnut brown.

I can tell she keeps her home
behind those dead eyes
Ever cool to my touch she is used to the fuss
of being pampered.

A few moments more until the night is done
she smiles ever composed as I close the lid.

Lost in the strain of muscle and sweat
I'm digging for Betty
I try to forget her beauty while
borrowing her smile as I square out the hole.

My rage a darkened pier with a spade at the end
