Her hair lay long and dark
like the billows of the night
tresses that fell against my cheek
as I kissed her lips
plump full and tender
“never trust a woman
whose upper lip lies fallow”
Ah, but with her plump upper lip
I trusted her enough
to place my key deep within
and lie in her arms while the rain fell
like clouds obscuring the crescent moon
my closed eyes seeing everything
