Can I have the strength
To go through each year
Every year
With my mind intact
My heart unbroken
Can you ever forgive me
The pain
The confusion
I've brought upon you
Can you ever understand
The lonliness in my heart
For you
Can you ever love me
There are so many dreams
In my heart for you
That you will achieve
But at someone else's
Gain
Love
I will never regret you
Each year brings
Me
You
Closer
To the understanding
That all answers
Will be bestowed upon you
These gifts I can give you
In my heart
They say patience is a virtue
This is a gift I'm trying
Hard to attain
You have a
Mother
Father
These are your parents
But always remember
There is a young girl
Trying to forgive
Herself
The heartache I have
Each year you celebrate
I will have that too
In my heart I send you
Much love
And no matter the material gifts
You receive for years to come
The most rewarding one you'll
Ever receive
I gave to
You
And with this
Celebrating of a precious
Life
I let you go

Thank You

Thank you for sharing that beautifully heart wrenching poem. I can appreciate the pain, sorrow and love you provoke with your words, as I too had to let a child go. Tw as a matter of fact. In six more years, I may get to see them again.
