Click hereScylla, Charybdis, ‘twixt wheel and stone
Imprisoned by unyielding embrace,
Mortar and pestle, stripped to the bone
By sentences cursed, impaled and placed,
Fool of Venus with sins to atone
Razor’s incision, fatal design,
Cascading crimson torrents afire,
Sangre de Christo, holy blood wine,
Entangled, hooked deep, need and desire,
Gibbet and Jester, hellish consign
Gambles and wagers, throwing away
Safety and shields all, life on the brink,
The Piper’s bill due, desperate play
Flush busted and broke, unable to think,
Impov’rished dancer, there’s Hell to pay
Drawn and quartered, dismemb’ring ahead,
Beloved court beyond all appeal,
Refusing to die, stubborn undead
Raging ‘gainst ending, thunderous peal,
Amorous clown, love’s protean bed
is difficult to find these days, and hard to judge in the context of modern poetic ideas. This one works, and has some real skill to it. Very well done.
Like a spell, this poem chants it's metre and curls smoke around interesting phrases. I think the archaic tone of this poem is very fitting to the subject and enjoyed the read immensely. This poem is mentioned in the New Poems Review thread on literotica's Poetry Feedback and Discussion forum.
