Your tired mind draws circles on the pane
and circumscribes its dreadful premonitions;
the glass is blurred. Outside, the driving rain
dances a tango made of repetitions.
It’s hard to concentrate and force your mind
to take apart life's complicated knot -
true comfort rests in ignorance. You’ll find
unravelling the maze it can’t be got.
There is no chucking this insistent pain;
like a bad tooth that’s stirring in my sleep
it keeps me half awake, while the inane
old fools outside take turns to laugh or weep -
If only I could jump an outbound train
and fly the tide, in one last, desperate leap.

disagree with GM, the great escape

without a cape

not sure of the title, strikes me as a little too so-so, but

this line is great

dances a tango made of repetitions.

I was intrigued through 11 lines and then confused. Unless I'm still confused, I think I would have ended it with

inane/same old things that render me half asleep.
