We knew each other when the world was flat
each wearing our birthday hat
each wearing our birthday clothes
head trips and painted toes,
Both browsing a Boulder shop
'fore the Internet made us stop
tie-dye shirts, patchouli oil
bell-bottoms, hash wrapped in foil,
Our smiles met and we said hello
discussed books, places to go
'twas sunny-bright and we were eager
to enjoy life, however meager,
So, we went for a walk down by the creek
discussed the world, things we seek
places we might spend some time
bean stalks we could climb,
I knew a guy with a place in town
the door unlocked, so we found
when upstairs to a comfy spot
Smoked some hash, smoked a lot,
Cross-legged our clothes discarded
you know how these things get started
made love 'til the stars came out
friend came home there was no doubt,
He smiled at you, he smiled at me
it wasn't very hard to see
we smoked a bowl as you got dressed
very slowly, with sensual zest,
Spent the night, slept in late
laughed a lot as we would mate
stoned sex can be quite gitty
especially in Boulder City,
Rest of the Summer we'd meet and screw
you liked me, and I liked you
but as Fall arrived we drifted apart
but the laughter still lives in my heart ...
