Tarnished effigy, standing forgotten
in a meadow of shattered dreams,
shadow of clouds the only homage
to a tattered miracle.

Abandoned by all, radiant light
shines no more upon desecrated land.
Where once beauty pierced the heart
of darkness, a broken goddess
reigns over none.

Bloodsoaked fields grow nothing
but sorrow and anguish,
tears wept by a misplaced diety
poison the earth.

Who does her traitorous flock
turn to for worshipping?
The flowers once laid on
her alter now given to another,
leaving her bereft,
weakened by lack of love.

The world has moved on
from the old ways, from
the time when her name
was whispered in awe.

Powerless and mournful
without presence or manifestation;
not even one last act
of greatness
to be remembered by.

Do not beg for her forgiveness
for she has none to give,
heart grown cold as steel.
Neither pleas nor dreams
will she acknowledge.

Bow your head in sorrow
if you must,
but prayers are wasted on
a broken goddess.
