You bought me golden wings
They were luminous and striking
You taught me to flutter
And caught me each time
I flew too close to the sun
You watched me dance
And picked me up
Each time I stumbled
You dried my tears
And held me in
When my fears became too much
I held you in my eyes
As a knight in silver
My custodian, my trustee
You fell from grace
And took me down with you
Marked me
Used me
Damaged me
Until I could no longer stand the sight
Of my reflection
You let me burn
You let me fall
You let me dry my own tears
When you broke my wings
