With outstretched arms you welcomed me, home from school each day
I watched you take your first step and each night on your pillow lay
As moonlight streamed upon your face, I wondered about what kind of man you'd make.
I kissed your cheek and prayed angels around you les tonight your soul God decided to take.

As years went by, I watched you grow through scraped knees, broken bones and the FINGER,
But those childhood days are now all gone and the little boy I once held close...only in my mind does he now linger.

The feet that now walk beside me fill a man's size shoe
Your shoulders are wide, your head is much higher, but your eyes are the same old blue.

I watch your life with silent wonder at what a man you've become
Your gaze is steady, your faith is strong, and your mother's heart you've won

Wherever this road of life may take you, just as you were young, I will surround you with my prayer
With tear-filled eyes I try to remind you that "Big Sissy" will always be there.
