I cast my eyes to the mirror
I see nothing
Listening to the pulse of my heart
I hear nothing
My soul is gone, I'm empty
There is nothing.
Hope lost, I reach
For what I don't know.
What am I to do?
Where am I to go?
Which way do I turn?
Tears are my only friend
I can't shake self-pity
Because I know
Ugliness castrates
Because I understand
Fat dominates
Because I realize
Shyness Isolates.
I'm bound in loathing
And I cry...
To feel human
Worthless, but human
Hopeless, but human
Nevertheless, human.

~~

Akin to the anguish of psychological self-mutilation.
