Marriages, relationships are defined
By the things we say and discuss.
Equally they are defined
By the things we cannot say,
The words that elicit anger
Or worse still, no response.
By the things we cannot discuss.
I wish I could say all this to my wife.

I enjoyed this. Perhaps it is the right time and this struck a chord. I'll say this: I felt.

Silence is golden, has got to be better than...

...Shout! Shout! Let it all out...or is it???

re: last line

appears to be a judgement call regarding audience reaction. For some it sums up (pardon the pun here) OB sees it as a redundancy or superfluous. There may be a bigger problem, too much lead, not enough stuff. It comes across as an philosophical musement. Again largely Judgement. This time in caps.

You could have left off

The last line and had a good and thoughtful poem, but by putting it in you took it out of the blue and made it real, brought it to life. Excellent, as usual, Clearday.

Sometimes in marriage we decide not to fight the battle, or cause the issue when we both might be better off if we did.
