Candy Coated ADD
or
Thoughts of Anthony and Welfleet, MA

Falling from the top of the sky-
I don't remember and you don't know why.
Purple haze clouds my vision-
Rods and cones, thoughts of science class and fission.
Drop the anchor and lower the line,
Broken bead strings- so retie with twine.
Hopeless fantasies, your "Once Upon a Time,"
A Disney princess curtsy's then walks in perfect straight lines,
Like a sober driver and his untouched glass of wine,
It's Riesling like a whisper and rowboats in the tide,
Hold up your head, if you remember her song words then "Don't slide,"
Just shoots and ladders and an imagined carpet ride.
Anthony- my genie, with a crocodile wink and a nod-
Holds onto me tightly during our roller coaster ride,
I've always wondered how I can move like water but walk like sand,
Holding onto the handle bars like a firm shake of a hand.
Twine unstrung, my beads fall out onto sand
Long lost glass sweets sunk at sea,
Guided by sirens- does it make you think of me?
The airborne waves bring us to be,
A magic lamp sweetheart and naiad's candy.

author's note

I think I wrote this when I was about 16 or 17, so it'd make sense that my writing style was less developed at the time, but thanks for the honesty.

Anyone that can take the word naiad and make it work, should not be writing in ryhmey couplets. some of this is good, shooting for cheap rhymes brings it down
