Brother and sister cat
Were given birth in the closet
Of my buddy Peb’s closet
Now streetwise outdoor smarts
Entangle themselves together like a Siamese ONE!
And they prance over time and put on
Carefully orchestrated
Submissive
Helpless mewl
For the man with the GOODS!
Presently
I give them
Cutie
Chicken and Tuna
And I feed the frenzied siblings
Wag-tailed and waiting for me
Before I feed my own mouth at the end of the day
The don’t know I’m fifty and lost
And lost
And quietly desperate
And wake up
In cold sweats
They just swish between my feet
Like furry angelic zephres
When I come home
I’m the man
Who does the chicken and tuna dance
And shakes the clattering
Pellets of
Into plastic bowl
I give them the smell and taste
Of chickentuna
And a reason to live another day
