There is someone who has been around
Through highs and lows, rough and smooth,
A light kept bright in darkened days
Though events conspire and others act
To try to hurt and keep me down,
Who lifts and caresses with sounds and words,
Who embraces my soul when battered and bruised
She keeps her distance and rightly so,
Yet gets inside of me and keeps me whole,
Could I ever imagine a world without her,
Of nothingness surrounding a heart of grey,
Do others feel that who have not found,
This goddess of song, word and sound,
I pray to whatever is deemed holy in your life
That you have someone who can comfort you
Like she comforts me, totally
