My wife put her in it. So what am I going to do, call my wife a liar?
—David Greenglass, speaking of his wife Ruth and sister Ethel

Wired for her one-way trip
into the locked room of forgetfulness,

did Ethel wonder
about that damn Remington,

whether its keystrokes had captured
a new and brilliant sun? Or rather why

Ruth's children would know parents
but her own, none?
