Her past is there
Like chalk on a blackboard
That never completely erases

Like a shy girl
She ventures out
Giggles and runs away

Her future is cloudy
She can't see through the fog
Slow to trust as a cat

All she sees is invisible scars
A pull of the heart
Outweighed by betrayal

A twice caught fish
She shuns the bait
Hides in the shadows

Choosing instead
The silent slam
Of invisible bars

Safely locked away
In a season-less world
Void of all color
