Chance(?) Meeting
By shaman325
How did this chance meeting occur?
Born 10 years and 13,000 miles apart
In equally obscure hamlets.
Nothing in our collective past
Prepared us for our encounter…
One so brief, yet one which changed
Each of our lives forever.
In the 10 minute duration
Of our relationship
We shared an intimacy
Few share in a lifetime.
We shared tears and pain
As I held your pain-wracked body
To my sob-shaking one.
In a moment of communion
Our eyes met… and we were one.
Do you remember
The weeping face of
The man/child soldier
As well as he remembers
Your too-old baby face?
If we were by chance to meet today
Would we know?
It matters not.
Because for one brief moment
A soldier from Texas and a child from Asia
Shared an intimacy few attain in a lifetime.
And the soldier is better for it.
