Charlie Six: Medevac In A War Zone
Two weeks ago I was flying in Denver
The first snow was falling in the Rockies
The dull grey peaks turning white against the sky
Oh how I miss that sight
My unit shipped out a week ago
Here I am in a much different place now
Gone are the snow capped peaks
Replaced with tall sandy peaks
The kind you would find around Vegas
I sit on the black asphalt of forward operating base Soda Pop
My helicopter a UH-60Q Blackhawk sits fifteen feet away
Waiting for the call that would unite man and beast.
