White skin is impurity,
Swaying hips whisper her infidelity.
She greets me with a kiss
And my soul screams to know
Why can't her love be true?
The flowers in the park today
Cannot mask the scent of another
So fresh on her flawless skin.
The lies in her blue eyes say she is mine
As she glances across the way-
Questing for any man who isn't me.
Her words of love are but lip service.
I'm only her world
Until she looks the other way.
Does she know the pain she inflicts?
Or does the emptyness inside of her-
Numb her to the blood of my disected heart?
I am but a breath;
She drew me inside -
And quickly I am fading away.
The cheater never thinks about the one cheated upon.
Well, done.
Regards, Jack
Some wonderful images here! I love the final stanza in particular. It is also interesting that you adopt a male POV for the poem- was this difficult for you?
