With no arms and no legs I still rise and fall,
cold as winter stones along frozen rivers
I shine without warmth, light cascading
upon the dreams of those beneath me, for I stir the heavens
and the sun provides no rival for I'm cold and offer no quarter.
Without me the stars seem dim, the night so alone.
So look upon me, see the old man, my wisdom without reserve,
and know the face of your father, My Child Of the Night.

beware of his promise; believe what I say

children chill to their father's call down in the valley

while winter withers late season's harvest on the vine

if a day could last forever we would fall in love completely

but his darker fruit brings us a night sweeter wine
