Some have spoken
of their anger
and its visual cue
and physical form
and how each has a limit
and how they react.

Most feel heat rising
varying by degree
til unreasoning red
is all they see
and for a few
it seems as if a BEAST
held taut within
slipped loose
for an instant -
an unthinking
undescriminating madness
descends -
for a brief moment
then passes.
They feel bad
after
for having been
not themselves
but...

I feel in cold -
FEEL in growing waves
of reasoned chill
til
emotion-less
life-less steel-grey
right-less-wrong
conscience-less
nesses of degree
eyes
stare
from an empty place -
all-encompassing
all-touching
all-leaving
the KNOWING of death
inside
each that see
THEIR mortality coming
beyond ANY doubt
til all that remains
if
I've passed you by
is
remembering how to breathe
and the roaring silence in your ears
and thuding heart in your chest...
and I don't feel
bad
for there IS no after -
just me.
