Enter not with regret
My battered loving arms
I come with packages,
Presents and charms.
Some you will embrace
Others make you turn away
I am not an angel
I fall, I sway
They want to make me over
Into someone who I’m not
They try and try to teach
what cannot be taught
I am a china doll broken
Porcelain upon the ground
What once was lost
They think they have found
Like the treasures of an ancient city
Discovered from within
Locked away and hiding
A bottled djin
Torn and tattered
Broken and bruised
I tell all, no secrets
There is no ruse
Gentle lover
Whom I seek to love and hold
Can you overcome
what cannot yet be told?
The secrets of a fallen angel
The secrets of a broken doll
Put me on no pedestal
I wish not to tumble and fall
Pick up the pieces
But leave them as they lie
I am who I am
Til the day I die…
A china doll broken
